Birthday cake pics

So here are some pics of Jasmine’s birthday cake. She had the most amazing party, with amazing friends, colleagues, and food!

Jasmine takes the first cut into her 30th birthday cake

At the last minute, I decided to add another layer to the cake, going from a 2-layer to 3-layer, with lemon curd and raspberry filling. Since Jasmine likes vanilla, I whipped up five (count them…5) batches of buttercream frosting. I put the cake on my scale, and it topped out at 19.7 lbs.

I'm just happy the cake made it in one piece!

My initial worries about making a cake big enough to feed 40 guests were finally over. This cake was HUGE, and I was happy that the kitchen staff were able to enjoy the cake, too. They deserved it!

Cake, cake, and more cake!!!

A final note: I made this enormous cake in my little kitchen. This is a testament to what you can cook in 100 sq. feet. Fear of making big cakes in my brooklyn kitchen is now a thing of the past. Bring it!
